Jijiz Uncle's BBQ & Bar: From Hainan Flagship to Multi-Store Expansion
The Hainan Free Trade Port Japan Enterprise Cooperation Center, in collaboration with relevant departments of Meilan District, Haikou City, provided services including business registration, store site selection, visa coordination for foreign personnel, and local industry resource connection to the Japanese dining brand "Uncle Jijiz Yakitori & Sake Bar." This enabled the brand to complete its journey from registration to opening its first store in Hainan in just 60 days. In 8 2025, the brand's first store in Hainan officially opened at Yalili, Meilan District, Haikou City. In 8 2026, the second store began trial operations in Haikou's Guomao business district, achieving sustained growth from a single-store launch to a two-store presence. This serves as a practical case study for international dining brands expanding into the Chinese market through Hainan.
1. Brand Launch: 60 Days to Opening of Hainan's First Store
Jijiz Uncle's Yakitori & Izakaya, founded by a startup team with years of experience in Japanese dining. Born on Beijing's Tidendeng Street, we specialize in authentic yakitori and the izakaya culture, emphasizing premium ingredients, traditional cooking techniques, and an exceptional dining experience.
In 2025, the brand team recognized the development opportunities in the Hainan Free Trade Port and decided to open a new store in Haikou. The Japan Enterprise Cooperation Center of the Hainan Free Trade Port, in collaboration with the special task force for foreign-related services in Meilan District, provided comprehensive services—including business registration, site selection for operations, coordination of visas for foreign chefs, and guidance on related procedures—to address the actual needs of enterprises operating across regions and foreign nationals developing their businesses in China. These efforts helped the enterprise resolve practical challenges encountered during project preparation.
With the collaborative efforts of all parties, Jijiz Uncle's BBQ & Bar opened its first store in Hainan on 2025/8/11 at Yaleli Commercial Street, Meilan District, Haikou City. The entire process from business registration to store opening took only 60 days.
II. Resource Integration: Fusing Japanese Culinary Expertise with Hainan's Local Ingredients
During project implementation, the brand set high standards for the quality, texture, and processing specifications of chicken used in yakitori dishes.
In response to actual business needs, the Meilan District Government actively coordinated local industrial resources to facilitate a partnership between the brand and Hainan (Tan Niu) Wenchang Chicken Co., Ltd. Leveraging the production characteristics and ingredient standards of Japanese yakitori cuisine, we developed a localized sourcing solution tailored to the brand's requirements.
This collaboration not only addresses practical needs in brand management but also integrates Japanese culinary expertise with Hainan's distinctive agricultural products, creating new opportunities to expand dining consumption scenarios for local high-quality agricultural resources.
III. Sustainable Growth: From Hainan's First Store to a Dual-Store Presence in Haikou
As the brand continues to grow in Hainan, Jijiz Uncle's Skewers & Bar is expanding into Haikou.
On 2026-8-7, Jijiz Uncles Skewers & Bar (Guomao Branch) officially began trial operations. The new store is located at Shop 30, Level 29, Building A, Dongyue Fu, Phase II, Haohua Center, No. 2 Jinmao East Road, Jinqiao Street, Longhua District, Haikou City.
The brand has now established a two-store presence in Haikou, with locations at Yali and Guomao, serving the Meilan and Longhua districts. This expansion further strengthens its market footprint across Hainan.
From the rapid launch of our first store in Hainan in 2025 to the trial operation of our second location in 2026, the brand has successfully transitioned from initial market entry to sustained expansion, underscoring the strong appeal of Hainan's dining market for distinctive international restaurant brands.
