Nanhai Network and the New Hainan client reported on 8 month 14 (Reporter Li Wentao, Correspondent Wang Pinzhao): On 8 month 11, the popular Beijing brand "Jijiz Uncle's Yakitori & Sake Bar" unveiled its doors at Yalili Commercial Street in Meilan District, Haikou. This Japanese restaurant, which took just 60 days from registration to opening, is the result of six entrepreneurs from three generations—60, 70, and 80—joining forces in a passionate journey. The launch also marked an innovative cross-industry collaboration: "the government as matchmaker, pairing yakitori with Wenchang chicken."
Last winter, six seasoned Japanese restaurant owners—affectionately dubbed the "Uncles and Aunts of Dining"—were drawn to Hainan by its Free Trade Port policies. "We only came for a vacation, but we were won over by the startup environment here!" recalled Uncle Kato and Auntie Akane. The Meilan District Japan Enterprise Cooperation Center quickly embraced this multi-generational startup team, offering seamless support from business registration and location selection to securing visas for foreign chefs—even providing hands-on guidance with paperwork.
"The toughest challenge was sourcing quality ingredients. Before our opening, we were deeply concerned: we needed chicken with perfect tenderness. We scrutinized multiple suppliers with microscopic precision, but none met our standards. As seasoned culinary artisans, we believed only the finest ingredients could awaken genuine emotion in our customers," recalled Uncle Chuan. At this critical moment, the Meilan District Government facilitated a strategic partnership between us and Hainan Tan Niu Wenchang Chicken Co., Ltd. "We tailored a dedicated supply chain solution to meet their needs. We also extend our gratitude to the Meilan District Government for bridging this connection and helping us forge new partnerships," said a representative from Hainan Tan Niu Wenchang Chicken Co., Ltd.
"From registration to opening, it was as fast and smooth as grilling chicken cartilage!" exclaimed Uncle Ken Sugiura and Mrs. Shihong. The store has set a new record for Japanese companies establishing operations in Hainan. The "Foreign-related Service Task Force" in Meilan District, working alongside the Japan Enterprise Cooperation Center, provided end-to-end support with a blend of standardized and customized services tailored to the business's needs.
